THE AMERICA!-; UNIVERSITY IK CAIRO Minutes of the Faculty Meeting of Oct, 8, 1970* The meeting was called to order by Dr. Nowaihi. 1. The agenda was approved. 2, The minutes were approved as read. The new faculty members were introduced by the Chairmen of the departments. 4-, The Chairman addressed the faculty. The faculty then stood for a few minutes in silence in memory of President NASSER. 5. The Vice President addressed the faculty briefly surveying some of the programs in A.U.C. 6. The faculty Nomination Committee gave its report on nominations of faculty members for the Academic Board and the P.P.P. Committee. The names for the Academic Board were approved as presented. Dr. K. Roscoe & Dr. Larudee were nominated from the floor for the P.P.P, Committee. The following were elected members of the P.P.P. Committee: Dr. John Gerhauser Dr. Farouk El-Hitami Dr. Laurence Hunt Dr. Anwar Kinawi Dr. Everett Moore Dr. Hasan El Shamy 7. The Chairman of the Faculty appointed Dr, A. Said, Dr. Breebaart, & Dr, Jones to form a Faculty Membership Committee. 8. A request from the Business Manager to reactivate the Committee for Consultation with the Business Manager was read. The request was granted. The names for this committee were approved as presented by the Nominations Committee. 9. A proposal from President Thoron for the establishment of a research committee was read. It was moved and approved that the discussion of this proposal be postponed until faculty members have had copies of this proposal & time to think it over, 10. Dr. Saleh reported that many students with high averages on the Thanawiya Amma have applied to the University this year. The meeting v/as adjourned
