Council would recommend that the College Faculty appoint a strong Discipline Committee whose chairman shall deal with disciplined students and their relatives and friends and thus relieve Dr* Watson of this type of responsibility. 1703* DR.JEFFERY : Council heard with regret that Dr. Watson had heard from the United States that Dr. Jeffery has resigned from the University staff. 1704. TEACHERS1 CONTRACTS : Council voted that for one more year we should postpone the printing of a standard form for teachers* contracts* in the meantime to continue to write letters as has been done in the past. 1705. 5th SECONDARY . Council approved the recommendation that the College offer the scientific section of the new 5th year secondary, in 1937-38. in order to meet the requirements for equipment, Council voted that the apparatus required be ordered, in accord with the list submitted, amounting to approximately X258.000 Tnis should be paid for, in whole or in part, from the following accounts in order : a) savings in the College budget of 1937-38, or b) The expected grant-in-aid from the Egyptian Govern- ment during 1937-38* c) Emergencies. 1706* INCOME TAX ; Dr. Watson reported that he has been advised by the Philadelphia office that staff members are not subject to United States Income Tax, in so far as their salaries from A*U«C. are concerned, this being considered as money originating outside of the United States (fees paid by Egyptian Students) and hence not subject to U*S. tax. 1707* DEGREES CERTIFICATES ; On recommendation of the Faculties, Council authorized, the granting of the certificates, and conferring the degrees as shown on the following page. 1708.
