MINUTES Minutes of the meeting of September 29 accepted, 1414 ,* RECEPTION FOR AMERICAN MINISTER The invitation of Dr. Watson to Minister Fish for a reception by the University upon his arrival in Cairo was discussed. It was decided to postpone any action that would look toward preparing a reception because of uncertainty about the date of the Ministers arrival, and because of the need to inter' view other organizations and individuals in the American Commu nity regarding a fitting reception from the Community* In Council the question was raised of the wisdom of the Universit giving an alaborate reception with financial conditions being se straightened and the group of faculty wives being so small*. UNIVERSITY CITY PROPERTY Mr. C1eland repor ted a conversation with Mr* Childs, the 1st Secretary of the American Legation, relative to discussion between the Legation and the Egyptian Government concerning the expropriation of some meters on the north side of our property. Mr. Childs stated that he was recommending to the Government that the status quo be allowed to continue unti such time as arrangements satisfactory to all parties could be: arrived at* , 1415. FINANCE REPORT The Finance Committee submitted a report* 1416* RENTAL OF SUBURBAN PROPERTY# The Suburban Property Committee was empowered to decide wheth€; the suburban propwrty should be/ll£§{r to the f allaheen or cultivated under direct University mamagement* 1417.
