He drew attention to the fact that contributions for the quarter totalled $175,000 as against $139,000 during the same period last year. 4. Assistance for the New Chairman - It was agreed that the University should share part of the cost of Mr. Jungers' secretary in Oregon inasmuch as they will be doing considerable development work from there. 5. Miscellaneous Points - a. The key to the success of the development campaign is proper utilization of the Trustees. This requires considerable staff work, i.e. research on the person or organization to be contacted, preparation of draft letters and proposals for Trustees to submit, arranging of appointments, follow-up, reporting on the use of gifts, renewal of requests to donors, etc. b. A young, energetic person should be sought for the New York Office development position. c. The New York Development Officer should assist Cairo in origin­ating and developing grant prospects. d. A new position in Cairo for development work in the area will most probably be needed and should be budgeted. The prospects in the area for significant support are good and require continuous attention. It is I anticipated that this effort will be an ongoing and slowly evolving one. e.
