J I I -4- The Board voted to continue Brown Brothers as manager of the Dollar Endowment and approved paying the increased fees. 7. Fund Raising - The Chairman of the Dollar Development Committee, Mr. Devine, sununarized for the Trustees the "Report on Develop­ment Program" (attachment 4,2). He described the staffing of the fund raising section of the New York office: Provost, Burt Wallace and his assistant, Alison Parker Kenway. Mr. Devine mentioned that a friend and former colleague of Mr. Wallace's, John P. Butler, III of Barnes and Roche, will be coming to AUC at University expense but without fee to offer advice to AUC on reorganization of the alumni office. AUC hopes in turn to be able to advise Cairo University. Mr. Devine said that a printed annual report on the University should be ready for distribution in 5-6 weeks. The Christopher Thoron Memorial Fund currently totals $13,000 and the Irish poet, Desmond O'Grady, is being sponsored by the Fund as the first Christopher Thoron Distinguished Visit­ing Lecturer. Mr. Devine concluded by saying that he believes that the fund raising program is doing well in light of the hard times being experienced generally by charitable organizations.
