Y. 10017 TELEPHONE (212) 421-6~20 Dear Trustees: May 16, 1974 By now you are well acquainted with the University's pressing need to raise dollars, not only directly but as an act of good faith toward our government which has been supporting 75 per cent of our effort. We are in the process of retaining a development officer to guide and assist our ongoing efforts. If the campaign is to succeed, the Trustees must be committed to it and such commitment must be manifest. You will be called upon to suggest sources, to establish contacts and to visit possible donors. You will also be asked to give financial support, for we will be in a far better position to ask help from others if we ourselves have a strong record of giving. In recent years only half of all of us have contributed regularly. The January trip to Egypt was a grand and memorable success in the enthusiasm generated for AUC and in widening our horizons, even if to date it has not proved a financial success. Contributions from guests and Trustees have so far made up only about one-half of our expenses.
