Dr. Charles Frankel's Recent Book Dr. Dirks drew attention to Dr. Charles Frankel's recent book '~he Neglected Aspects of Foreign Affairs" and suggested it might be arranged to have copies of this book transmitted to all the members of the Board. The suggestion was unanimously endorsed, and Mr. Barco undertook to arrange for the book to be sent to all Board members. Real Property Acquisition Dr. Bartlett presented a map of the existing University property showing the old area, the new area and the dormitory area. He pointed out a nearby piece of property (the corner of Mohamad Mahud and Jusef el Guindi) now for sale which contained an apartment house which was structurally sound although somewhat in need of maintenance and refurbishing . The asking price for this property was LE100,OOO and the income from it as is was about LE800 to LE900 a montv: Not only was its location desirable from the University's point of view, but its acquisition would reduce the need for the University to build apartments for staff and students. He sought the approval of the Committee to pursue negotiations for the acquisition of the property provided Socony Mobil funds in pounds were available for this purpose. After full discussion, on motion duly made and seconded. the Committee adopted the following resolution: RESOLVED, that the Executive Committee approves in principal entering into negotiations for the possible acquisition of the property at the corner of Mohamad and Jusef el Guindi, any such acquisition to be subject, however, to approval of the Board. Dr. Bartlett informed the Committee that it was his long range hope at some time in the future to trade the new campus area for the French Lyc~e property, thereby consolidating the main University plant within one city block.
