KELLEY'S VISIT IN CAIRO 39 FINANCE COMMITTEE and COMMITTEE ON BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS 40 COMMITTEE ON CHRISTIAN PROGRAM The Committee met at 11 a.m. in the Century As soo iati on, 7 West 43rd Street. Present: Messrs. Thorne (co-opted), Garrett, Jewett, Potter, Sizoo, also Madison, Kelley and Vandersall. In the absence of the chairman and either vice-chairman of the Board, Mr. Thorne presided. Dr. Potter opened the meeting with prayer. "The Chairman of the Board, or one of the Vice-Chairmen, together with the Treasurer and three or more other Trustees elected by the Board, shall constitute an Ex-ecutive Committee to act for the Board ad interim and to dispose of all routine business not assigned to the other standing committees, except changes of pol-icy, removals from office, or granting of degrees." In the light of his visit at the University between January 25 and 27, Mr. Jewett spoke enthusiastically of his experiences and summarized his impressions. He and Mrs. Jewett had met the faculty, some of the students, the Misrahys, and others. As a result, Mr. Jewett made a conditional offer to Dr. Badeau (see below) . Mr. Kelley read the report of his visit at the Univer-sity during the month of January. Members of the Committee expressed the hope that copies would be distributed to all the members of the Board. Mr. Madison stated that the Finance Committee was meeting at this sane time in Pittsburgh to act on the President's request with reference to adjustment in salaries for short-term teachers. At the request of Mr. Harbison, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Mr. Garrett spoke for him, as well as for the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, expressing the great inter-est of these committees in Mr. Jewett's offer, also their willingness to consider any questions referred.
