Z14 Appendix F November 8, 1946 To the Chairman of the Council of The American University at Cairo The Minutes of Council for 1945-46 were duly reviewed by the Committee on Fducation in the U.S.A. apart from those sections dealt with by the Finance Com-mittee in the U.S.A., with the following observations or actions: Minutes of Council of A.U.C. 1945-46 Note: Section Numbers refer to Council Minutes. 2680. This is being taken up separately by the Committee on Education 2672. Dr. Watson wishes to have his sincere thanks and those of Mrs. Watson exprêssed to Council for this gracious resolution with reference to their past service of A.U.C. 2736. The Trustees will need to be informed as to the alternatives proposed by Council if the Five Year Plan cannot be executed as stated. ?740. The question of tuition fees is left with the Council in Egypt. It is important however to lean with due caution on this source of income to secure the maximum posible resources from this source without raising the fee so high as to lower the secure income. 2752. The Trustees assume that Council in Egypt sent suitable thanks to all who took part in the inauguration auspices of Dr. Badeau. 2761. The Trustees approve of the organization of Council as outlined in this section, but wish the names of the members remaining to be appointed. 2769. This Furlough Schedule, since received from Dr. Badeau, is approved as to the time when furloughs are proposed, but further work is yet to come as to the financial and abs-nce arrangments in the case of Dr. Cleland. In conclusion, the Trustees wish to thank Council in Egypt for its faithful and painstaking administration of the affairs of the University in Fgypt.
