THAT the Trustees, having authorized the President to confer degrees in 1941, as recommended by the Faculties and approved by the Council in Egypt, hereby approve the conferring of degrees on the students listed below at the graduation exercises held in Cairo on May 30, 1941. THAT the Trustees authorize the ?resident to confer degrees in 1942 on students who have been duly recommended by the Faculties and approved by the Council, and to present a complete list of such students with the degrees conferred for final approval by the Trustees at their meeting immediately following; the graduation exercises. 445. REPORT OF THE Mr. tíalph W. Harbison, Chairman, presented the Report of FINANCE COMMITTEE the Finance Committee (Appendix D) which was received and filed and the following resolutions were adopted: 1. THAT The Council in Egypt be given power to fix and distribute equitably to the employees of the University in Egypt a "high cost of living bonus" commencing with January 1, 1941 and continuing for one year, the amount of the bonus to be determined by the Council every six months for the fol-lowing six months' period. The total amount of the bonus for the calendar year 1941 shall not exceed the total of the Gain in Exchange for the fiscal year 1939-40 which according to the Bursar's Report for that year amounted to L.E.2130.754. And Further, THAT this policy be continued for the calendar year 1942 based on the Gain in Exchange for the fiscal year 1940-41, but that the total bonus shall not exceed this figure. It is with regret that we conclude that increases in living costs not covered by the bonus will have to be borne by the staff as a sacrifice to be made because of the war. 2. THAT the accounts for the suburban property be audited by a committee of the Council in Egypt commencing with the year 1941-42 and continuing until further notice. 3. WHEREAS the Board has noted with deepest appreciation during the past twenty years the efficient, cordial and distinguished services to the cause of the Amer:ìcan University at Cairo on the part of Maitre Emanual Misrahy Pasha in dealing with the legal and financial problems of the University, WHEREAS the counsels of Misrahy Pasha have constantly proven to be for the highest interests of the cause and service of the University, provid-ing as they have a sense of confidence on the part of the Egyptian peopl
