During the year, there was correspondence with Mr. Galt on this subject and in view of an attractive counter offer from another institution, I felt some definite assurance should be given him of nay own readiness to promote at once this new development and to commit to him the leadership of it. Of course, I could not commit the Trustees and I do not know at this writing whether Mr. Galt received from the Trustees (for he was in America and I in Egypt) any assurances on this subject.
