1 THAT the Board of Trustees desires to express its appreciation to all those who heave so generously contributed to the work during the past year, especially to the Executive Officers, Dr. Wrn. Bancroft Hill and Mr. Joseph M. Steele, for their constant thoughtful cooperation. 247. REPORT OF The Report of the Secretary (Appendix D), as presented THE SECRETARY by Mr. H. A. Lum, was approved and the following action taken: 1 1 THAT the Re:ort of the Secretary be included as an Appendix to the Minutes and the Secretary be requested to make a report annually at the meeting of the Board of Trustees. 248. REPORT OF THE The Report of the Committee on Education (Appendix E), COMMITTEE ON as presented by Dr. h. H. S. Demarest, was approved and EDUCATION the following recommendations adopted: THAT Amir Effendi Buktor, having been accorded the rank of a 61 permanent member of the staff, be gra.ntea the remuneration- Q . approved by the Council in Egypt and outlined in a letter from Dr. Watson to Amir Effendi Buktor dated in Cairo ,v/ October 20, 1930. THAT we express to Dean Galt, Dean McClenahan and their fellow-workers our congratulations upon the completion of a successful year despite very trying conditions. THAT we recognize the need of a larger budget for the School of Oriental Studies and greatly regret that this need cannot at once be supplied. THAT we rejoice in the rapid increase of the Extension work and trust that Foundations may be disposed to support it. THAT we call sPecial attention to the need for a man to act as Dean and Professor of Apologetics in the School of Oriental Studies as outlined in the President's Report. 249. REPORT OF COMMITTEE Dr. W. I. Chamberlain presented the Report of the ON SPIRITUAL RESOURCES Committee on Spiritual Resources (Appendix F) . The Report was accepted and placed on file. 250. REPORT OF COMMITTEE Mr. Lurl reported for the Committee on Grounds ON GROUNDS AND BUILDINGS and Buildings. The following recommendation was adopted: THAT no further purchases of ground for the Suburban site be made until the funds are in hand to pay for such purchases, but a cablegram should be sent i America advising the Trustees of any unusual opportunities that may arise for making advantageous purchases
