May 23, 1932: THAT Dr. Thayer Addison of Cambridge, Mass., be elected a Trustee of The American University at Cairo with the understanding that he be approved by the Deportment of Foreign Missions of the National Council of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America. (Approved - See Minutes 1294). August 13, 1932: THAT the proper officers of the Board of Trustees of the American Uni-versity at Cairo be authorized to execute in behalf of the Trustees a Power of Attorney to Mr. Viendell Cleland of Cairo, Egypt, to act in behalf of the Trustees in carrying on negotiations with the Egypt-ian Government and / or the City of Cairo, for a strip of land for street purposes from the northern part of the property owned by the American University at Cairo and situated at 113 Sharia Kasr el Aini, with power to fix compensation therefor, and to do all that is nece-ssary and incident thereto. October 21, 1932: THAT a fitting tablet be erected by the fellow members of the Board of Trustees of the American University at Cairo in honor of Dr. and Mrs. William Bancroft Hill, in recognition of their generous support and untiring devotion to the University. This tablet shall be located in the Main College Building, in a place to be determined by the Council in Egypt, with an inscription to read as follows: In Honor of VILLIAM BANCROFT HILL Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the American University at Cairo and his wife ELISE WEYERHAEUSER HILL whose courageous faith, wise leadership, untiring devotion and generous support have contributed so greatly to the establishment and development of THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY AT CAIRO Erected by their friends and fellow Trustees. Chairman William Bancroft Hill, who had spent three months in Egypt made a very interesting and comprehensive report on the condition of the University (Appendix 1). The annual report of the Secretary of the Board of Trustees, as presented by Mr. Lum, was approved and placed on file (Appendix 2). The meeting took a recess to allow the various committees to meet and complete their reports. This recess extended from 12:10 through the luncheon hour. Mrs. R. V. Harbison joined the Trustees for luncheon. Due to the lateness of the invitation, none of the wives of the Trustees could be present.
