The Further Plans Beyond these first steps proposed on the previous page, it is proposed to develop the University from year to year as rapid-ly as possibly along these lines: (1) Further Enlargement of Collegiate Department. (2) The Christian School of Religion would come next. Three types of individuals are thought of as protably in attendance; first, the ::iissionary who proposes to work among Moslems and wishes to make a thorough study of Islam and also of Christianity in its relation to Islam; secondly, the native Christian worker, possibly the native pastor who is expecting to deal largely with Moslems; and thirdly, the Moslem inquirer himself. It is proposed that the spirit of investigation shall be so fair and marked by such Christian forbearance, that even the man who is yet a Moslem will not find it impossible to come to this educational center to study the sources of Islam and of the Christian faith. It is hoped that lines of close cooperation, if not of entire union, may be established with the study center, already established in Cairo, and with any Theological School that may be maintained by missions operating in Egypt. (3) The School of Education would require to be developed next. The need for this School is now apparent and while an elaborate course might not be possible at the beginning, but only special courses in the science of education, for those who are completing their collegiate work, nevertheless, gradually, a regular School of Education should be built up. This would render a direct service to the missions as well as to the community at large. (4) Next would come the School of Agriculture. This is placed fourth, because of the greater claims of the other departments and because the establish-ment of a School of Agriculture will involve greater expense than the other departments named. In view of the almost entire absence of agricultural training in mssion schools, already established in Egypt, we will need to avail ourselves of the very rich experience to be gained in such schools in India and particular-ly in the work carried on by Mr. Higginbottom of India.
