At the head and on the north side of a gulch crossing the bar at about mile 44.6 there is a stock trail leading to the platform above. There are two routes out of the gulch a few yards apart: one consists of ten picked steps, the other of a long slanting notch cut in the sloping sandstone. Both come together in the bottom of a bare rock wash. The trail follows this watercourse out to the top. Horse sign was noted all over Mesken Bar but there was no indication of cattle. Historical site 115 This is a sharply curving bar on the inside of a horseshoe bend on the right bank of the Colorado between mile 37 and mile 38.
