A few modern names appear on the cliff wall on the extreme upper end of the bar, among them, "Walter Allen 1937," the same name as found at Wildhorse Bar (Historical site 27). Gunsight Bar is an extensive grazing area which had recently been occupied by cattle in March, 1959, though none were seen at that time. At the foot of a natural trail ascending to the platform 300 ft. above the river, there is a modern camping area located at about mile 35.
