The article discusses the vocabulary concerning the names of dignitaries and officials in the Roman Empire and antique Jewish world described in the Gospels. The material base was 8 translations of Gospels from the 16th century. Collecting was simple thanks to the site ewangelie.uw.edu.pl – there are transcriptions of those Gospels. The article contains a discussion on the results of the research on the names from religious material. To conduct better research, in the analyses and comparisons, the Vulgate and the Millenium Bible are used as reference points. The analysis shows that vocabulary varies to some extent.
