Add to ORKGDate:1856Christiana was born to Thomas Emery and Martha Ashman in London, where she was christened on 20 July 1856. Christiana married Henry Medley Lynes, an engine fitter by trade. They had three children before emigrating to Australia, arriving in the Northern Territory in 1890. In 1891, the family was registered in the Territory census at Maud Creek. By 1892 the family was living at the 2 1/2 mile where their fourth child, a daughter, was born in April 1892. In 1895 when Christiana was 39, she was one of the 82 women who enrolled to vote after the franchise was granted to South Australian and Territory women in 1894.
