Add to ORKGAlbina was born in 1855 in Victoria to Edward Hopkins and his wife Eliza (nee Oxley). In 1885 Albina was appointed as an agent by the trustees of the Savings Bank of Australia. Albina married Charles Edward Brookes, police constable based at Burrundie, on 5 December 1888 in Norwood South Australia. They had four children born and registered in the Northern Territory: Ruth Adelaide born 28 February 1893; Darwinia Selian May born 23 May 1894; Jessie Henrietta Bucle born 27 April 1895; and Henry Edward Hopkins born 10 May 1896. In 1895 when Albina was 39, she was one of the 82 women who enrolled to vote after the franchise was granted to South Australian and Territory women in 1894.
