The luminescence of CuCl crystals has been excited by a laser light of very high intensity at low temperatures. Both the single photon (ultra-violet light produced by a ruby laser + a KDP crystal) and the double photon (red laser light) excitations have been used. Under these conditions in both excitation modes a new line v B has been observed. This line does not appear under conventional excitation conditions. It has been suggested that this line is due to a radiative dissociation of biexcitons. The aim of this paper is a quantitative and detailed study of this luminescence.
