DOMINASI TOKOH UTAMA DALAM NOVEL GADIS PESISIR KARYA NUNUK Y. KUSMIANA

The dominance by the main character in the novel Gadis Pesisir is done because the main character has full power in the island of Papua and dominates the natives and migrants. In literary works such as novels, dominance can be found in characters. Based on this, the focus of this study can be (1) the form of the dominance of the main character, (2) the factors causing the dominance of the main character, (3) the impact of the dominance of the main character. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method, using the approach of literary sociology. The data source in this research is the novel of Gadis Pesisir by Nunuk Y. Kusmiana. This research data in the form of quotes or story sequences in the form of paragraph sentences. The technique used in analyzing the data is by reading the novel Coastal Girl thoroughly, deeply, successively and making conclusions. The results showed that in the novel Gadis Pesisir by Nunuk Y. Kusmiana, the main character's dominant form of appreciation, coercive power, and persuasive power were found. These actions have the same goal of dominating someone until the person is helpless. Factors causing dominance are social, economic, and cultural status. All three are controlled by the dominator with all the power they have so that the dominance is arbitrary. There are two impacts of domination, positive and negative. These impacts cause several advantages and disadvantages to other figures
