ANALISIS KARAKTER TOKOH UTAMA DALAM NOVEL MERAHNYA MERAH KARYA IWAN SIMATUPANG

Character is the main aspect if we talk about novels. In novels, characters are important, because actors are always present and involved in the story. Usually the characters used in novels are humans. Characters in novels are depictions of humans in real life. Novel as a work of fiction is built on several intrinsic and extrinsic elements. Intrinsic elements are elements that build the literary work itself. These elements will factually be found if people read literary works. The combination of various intrinsic elements is what makes a novel come true. However, to examine the characterizations and characterizations of the characters in the novel Merahnya Merah, not all elements are used. The elements used are characters and characterizations. The problem in this research is how the main character in the novel is red-red This research uses a qualitative method using a descriptive approach. The data from this study are in the form of quotations from the novel Merahnya-Merah by Iwan Simatupang. The framework of this research uses three-dimensional analysis of the characters. The research instrument uses a research indicator table which includes a research design. Data collection techniques by reading and understanding novels, selecting and selecting data, classifying data, presenting data. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. From the results of the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that the main character in the novel Merah-merah has 14 characters, of which the 14 characters are grouped based on three dimensions of the character, 6 characters of Physiological dimensions which include (1) the main character of a tramp, (2) the character is male, (3) the main character has a sturdy body, (4) the main character has a handsome face like royalty, (5) the main character has physical characteristics of long, slender, and smooth fingers , (6) the main character is old. 4 character dimensions of sociology include (1) position, (2) social class, (3) belief, (4) place of residence and 4 characters of psychological dimension include (1) mental, (2) character, (3) emotional state, (4 ) temperamental
