KAJIAN KECERDASAN EMOSI (EMOTIONAL QUOTIENT) TOKOH UTAMA DALAM NOVEL GUNUNG UNGARAN KARYA NH.DINI

Emotional quotient is an ability in identifying, managing, motivating, recognizing our and other people emotion, and building relationships. Without emotional quotient, someone will not succeed in life. Literature work is one of the media that used to see the emotional quotient from the characters described by the writer. As one of literature works, novel becomes one of the media to portray emotional quotient, novel Gunung Ungaran by Nh. Dini is not an exception. Based on that, the research problems in this study are (1) what kind of emotional quotient of the main character from novel Gunung Ungaran by Nh. Dini, (2) what factor that influence emotional quotient of the main character in novel Gunung Ungaran by Nh. Dino, (3) what is the impact of emotional quotient from the main character in novel Gunung Ungaran by Nh. Dini. The research method applied in this study is descriptive qualitative method by using literature psychology approach. The data is taken from novel Gunung Ungaran by Nh. Dini by pay attention to the sequence of the story such as dialogue and story narration in novel Gunung Ungaran by Nh. Dini. The research findings are processed with several steps as follows: (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, (3) data display, and (4) conclusion. From the result of analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that in novel Gunung Ungaran by Nh. Dini found the kind of emotional quotient of the main character which are (1) identifying emotion, (2) managing emotion, (3) recognizing other people emotion, (4) self-motivation, and (5) building relationships. Besides that, there are factors that influenced intelligence of the main character as, (1) environment, (2) gender, (3) parenting, (4) age and peers, and (5) themselves. All those factors are important so the characters can have good emotional quotient. The emotional quotient impact on (1) good health, (2) quality of life, (3) optimal performance
