This dissertation is a contribution to the knowledge of public policies implemented between 1995 and 2016 by the executive office of the Brazilian federal government to deal with the legacies of the country’s most recent military dictatorship. This interdisciplinary study develops a novel approach to memory politics which combines theoretical concepts and frameworks on historiography and transition processes and discourse analysis.
