Abstract. We present a new algorithm for real-time antialiased rendering of a polygonal scene. The core of the algorithm consists of two components. The first is an approximation method for the polygon fragment coverage, based on a continuous affine function computed incrementally. The second is a novel way to compose the contribution of the fragments as a function of their coverage and orientation, designed to accurately deal with correlated fragments. In contrast to subpixel methods, our method generates continuous coverage values, and avoids the use of spatial masks. This allows a fast algorithm that yields high-quality images.
