A simple ceremony installing the new Executive Officers was performed by out-going President Marion Mostowy. New Executive are President Lydia Tricsli, Vice-President Irene Kusz, Secretary Irene Gruninger and Treasurer Joann Takacs. Marion Mostowy was then presented with a Past­President’s pin. Old business consisted of a report that two Easter Lilies were donated to the Long Term Care. Phone: 758-6725 (leave message) 331-8882 (cellular) ij 4 ■1 YOUTH SUMMER SCHOOL TAUGHT IN RAYMOND BY THE ‘VISITING PROFESSOR’ Visiting Southern Alberta July 15th to 26th, George Nelson will be more than just a tourist. This July, he will bring summer theatre to the area. Held in Raymond, the two week summer school, will involve students in the study of acting, stage combat, voice and dialect with a finale musical production called “WORKINGS”. Not only will the ‘visiting professor’ bring a good time and a theatre experience to the students, but to the area. First, though, we must ask, “Who is George Nelson?” Presently, George Nelson is the associate professor of theatre and film at Brigham young University, but his life began in Alberta. George’s dad was born in Raymond, and his mother near Cardston. His father presently resides in Cardston where he is a help to the Carriage House Theatre. George was born in Calgary spending , summers in Southern Alberta. ! Graduating .from Brigham Young University in 1977, and receiving his M.FA. from the University of Washington in 1979, George has since received much recognition. Some of his awards are: ‘Teacher of the Year’, BYU (1998); ‘Teaching Excellence’ Award (1997) from Brigham young University and a Special Recognition Award from the American Alliance of Theatre and Education (1995). He has been on the ‘Who’s Who’ in Corporate America (1989) and been nominated the Outstanding Young Man of America (1981). As well, George has been a film and video consultant and been a board advisor for Keystone Productions of Provo, Utah. On a continuum basis, George publishes plays and student workbooks. Added to teaching in the theatre and film faculty, George teaches summer youth programs and produces musical theatre. This summer, the youth program will be taught in Raymond, and this fall he will direct the opera “TARTUFFE” for Brigham Young University.
