After opening with an easy win over St Mary’s they were upset by Raymond by one point and leter to eventual place winner Coaldale. Their overall record for the year was 25-8 and they were ranked number one in the province for a good part of the year. Congratulations on a great year boys. Pandas Off to Provincials - Meanwhile the Pandas had 2 easy victories in Medicine Hat to win the Zone Championship and advance to the Provincial Championships in Lethbridge begining tomorrow (Thursday). Their first win was over Medicine Hat McCoy with Paige Peterson and Wendy Balderson led the Pandas with 20 and 19 points respectively, in the final, the Paudas cruised past Coaldale by a score of 81-42. ' The Pandas play their first game in the Provincials at 8 PM on Thursday, March 19th, al the Lethbridge Community College against Parkland-Edson. Pandas win-loss record to date is 29-4. The band performed two numbers which included their now famous "Maple Leaf Forever" rendition using the bagpipers and the giant Canadian flag, followed by the National Anthem. The band has been invited to perform again for the Provincial Championship game. Their performance will proceed the 8:00 PM game, (they will be performing at 6:00 PM on Saturday, March 21st, 1992} - If the Pandas are in the finals then they will also rally them on with a performance at 2:00 PM on Saturday. *AAAAAAAAAA The Ricks College Symphonic Band, from Rexburg, Idaho, will visit Magrath on Thursday. March 11, 1992 al the tiPr o' ■;<yee: ■ hekef< r ' 9^ -Im- bhe -f MaV?'aim AI ben a Herman farmed in the Farmhill district in the Magrath community. He loved the land and had a special interest inhunting and fishing. Herman could be found many times at the Jensen dam trying to catch that trophy pike. He retired to the town of Magrath in 1972 and spent many hours m his garden of which he was so proud. Herman and Annie spent the last two years comfortably at the Diamond Willow Lodge in Magrath. Herman was a sixty year member of the 1 0.0 F He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Besides his loving wife, Annie, Herman is survived by his daughter, Dorothy (Michael) Barnett; son, Richard (Shirley) John; five grandchildren; find nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters: and one grandchild. Funeral services were held Friday, .March 13, 1992 in the Magrath United Church at 2:00 PM with Pastor Brian Amison Officiating.
