Zeniths won Belrose 99-67, top scorers Tom Alston 35 pts, Andy Beres 22, James Smith 12, Eric Nordquist 11, Greg Bourne 11, Joseph Johnson 11 rebounds. In the 2nd game Magrath Zeniths defeated St. Albert 83-69. Andy Beres got 20 pts, Tom 18, Eric 15, James 14 pts. In game 3 The Zeniths lost to Edmonton 118 - 98. Tom had 26 pts, Andy 19, Joseph 13 and Eric 8. Magrath lost to Grande Prairie 72 - 69. James made 18 pts, Andy 16 and Joseph 14 pts. The Pandas beat St. Albert 70 - 43 with Patti Balderson scoring 20 pts, Kristyn Tanner 13 & Meghann Dahl 11. The girls also won their 2nd game against Edmonton 73 - 57 with Patti scoring 30 pts and Kristyn 11 pts. The 3rd game against Edmonton's Austin O'Brien High School saw the Pandas victorious 67 - 50. Patti had 27 pts and Meghann 14 pts. However they lost 64 - 59 against Paul Kane. Patti was named MAGRATH ALL STAR. Today sees Gr. 8 hosting Stirling Gr. 7 at Stirling. Pandas host Raymond, while the Zeniths are at Raymond. February 15 - Gr. host Raymond. February 16 - Pandas host Myers, while the Zeniths are at Medicine Hat. February 17 - Pandas are at Kate Andrews and the Zeniths host Kaiiiai. February 20 - Gr. 8 host Raymond, and Gr. 7 Go to Raymond. The Pandas are at CCHS. February 21 - The Zeniths host CCHS. REMEMBER THAT MONDAY FEBRUARY 19TH IS FAMILY DAY. SO THERE IS NO SCHOOL, THE POST OFFICE AND THE MAGRATH TRADING COMPANY WILL ALL BE CLOSED. FEBRUARY 22 AND FEBRUARY 23, 1996 ARE TEACHERS' CONVENTION AND THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON THESE TWO DAYS. A * * * A * March 2, 1996 the Provincial High School Cheerleading Championship will be held in our school. It is a great competition for spectators and there will be three levels of competitions; This will all start at 1:30 p.m. in the Karren Gym, the presentation of awards will be at 3:30 p.m. The cost of admission is $3 for adults, $2 for jr/sr students, and $1.00 for kids. We will be putting bar codes on your Magrath cards which can be used at the Lethbridge or any other Chinook Arch library We will be collecting the Lethbridge cards to return to their library. Please be patient with the Staff as it will take a bit of time your first visit to update your information and carry out this procedure. Next Bingo Feb. 15th, 1996 AAAAAA What did the pony say when it coughed? Excuse me, I'm a little horse. A fund has been set up at the Bank of -­Montreal for Steve Gruninger. He lost : everything when fire destroyed his home in the' Trailer court on February 1st. The Bank will also accept any donations of clothing, furniture, household items, towels, sheets, personal items and anything else you can think of. AAAAAA Recently I had occasion to go to the cemetery here in Magrath. It has been my custom to go about once a week for the last year as I have a BEST FRIEND and SWEETHEART buried there. This is the third time I have found tire tracks on Clark’s final resting place. Once in the deep snow they were nearly to the headstone, and this last two times they are just across the middle. What are people thinking when they drive off file road and park on someone’s loved one. O.K. they aren't really there and they can't say "You’re driving on my chest, feet legs or whatever". But their loved ones are offended by the lack of respect. When I go to a funeral I even make sure I don't walk on someone's grave so why would you drive or park on one. If you can't find a parking spot dose, please part farther away. Please help me and the town staff keep his final, or anyone rise's final resting place, a place of beauty and reverence. An old Scottish gold miner, Silas McGee, stated that it was his brother Ian who played the pipes but to him (Silas) they were "... as the wailing of the dead!". However, to another young Scottish descendant, that wee Bobby Bairn Carson "I stuff my hagas with pucks" Dahl, those pipes rallied and inspired him to an awe inspiring assist. Sharon sobbed, Ken grinned. And that was how our game went with Cardston. Rebounding from last weekends set back our boys proved once again that position and team work win games. Our plucky goalies Mitch Maxwell, David Harker, and Connor Barnett stonewalled the Cardston offense with repeated mind bending saves. Our offense powered by a Barnett, Folkes, Ripley diesel and turbo charged by that Super additive Hillmer, Schneyder, Holt resulted in a 10-1 victory. Special mention has to be made as well of that little spitfire Todd Perks. Several times he beat his way up the ice dodging anti aircraft defenses, flak as thick as tar and ice forming on his wings only to be stalled mid flight by a lucky poke check or the smell of his girlfriends perfume. So ended our final game of the season. Next week is our tournament and then the Mom's take on the boys.
