A special thanks to Norma Arnold who stayed with us to the "bitter end". Lome & LaVem Critchfield. Charles Steele Blumel, beloved husband of Della Blumel of Cardston, passed away in the Cardston Municipal Hospital Sunday, November 19, 1989 at the age of 76 years. Steele was born in Magrath, the eldest son of Walter and Mae Blumel. He farmed in Magrath later working for H.H. Smith Customs' Broker at Coutts. Following a serious accident in January 1957, the family moved to Kingsgate, B.C. and in 1960 moved to Cardston whfere he was a caretaker for the Chinook Foundation until his retirement. He was then a part time caretaker at the villa. He is survived by his wife Della, three children Helena Blumel of Glenwood, LaRee (David) Scott of Orem, Utah and Joseph (Renee) Blumel of Provo, Utah, 6 grandchildren; one brother. Grant Blumel, a sister Mabel Tulloch. He was predeceased by his parents, a daughter and a son and a sister, Twila Steed. Funeral Services were held in the L.D.S. Tertple Street Chapel, Cardston, Tuesday, November 21st with Bishop Joe Paulson officiating. Intermant followed in the Magrath Cemetery. LADIES CONFERENCE CHOIR - will be practis­ing, at the L.D.S. If you just ask for the Heme Economist the operator will put your call through to the Lethbridge Office. The Home Economist there does not service the Magrath area. The Government RITE number can .be? found in the phone book under Government. The first or second listing 'nder Govern­ment should be the RITE number. Should you experience any probleirs using this approach please call me direct at 653-4848. I’ll call you back. MAGRATH HOSPITAL, NEWS Mrs. Shirley Saunders has been asked by the Magrath Hospital Board to sit on the Planning Committee for the Extended Care Facility. The Hospital Board fee.1 Mrs. Saunders is an excellent choice because of her nurs­ing background and she was also a Board Member at the time of application and approval of the project. Government Dep­artments associated with this project were pleased with this appointment because of past association with her. ■ The Board appreciates Mrs. Saunders accepting this task and look forward to working with her through the. completion of this project. MAGRATH HOCKEY NEWS Atom B Hockey Results; For those of you who have been waiting for the Magrath Atom B Garre results - here they are! Magrath vs Coaldale at Magrath - Magrath ’won the match with a thrilling come-from -Lenina effort in the third period. Coaldale led 1-0 at the end of two periods. Magrain exploded m the third with 5 unanswered goals to soundly defeat Coaldale 5-1. Landen Harker had 2 goals and 1 assist, Tommy Lee 1 goal, 2 assists. Lome McKelvey 2 goals and Gavin Beck and Bari: Bull­ock each had an assist. Greg Bourne had an excellent game only allowing one goal. The defensive unit was impressive in keeping Coal­dale boxed in during the third. Magrath vs Brocket at Brocket: The Atom B's thumped Brocket 7-2 in their own building. Excellent offense was shown by Matt Chatwin scoring 2 goals in the second hockey game of his life. Other goals went to Michael Heggie, Gavin Beck, Torrny Lee, David Orr and Landen Harker. Assists went to Tommy Lee, Michael Heggie, Trevor Panczak (2) Gavin Beck, Greg Henry (2), Bart Bullock (2). Defense was aw-some until late in the third when Brocket scored their 2 goals,. ' Magrath vs Cards ton at Cardston: Bart Bullock couldn't be held down in this game. He ripped 4 goals past the Cardston net minder as Mag­rath defeated the home team 8-.> Assists werrc to Bart Bullock, Michael Heggie and Greg Henry. Tomry Lee added a pair of goals, Gavin Beck struck for 1 and struck out for 1 when he blasted one off the cross-bar. Greg Bourne, who hadn’t seen a lot of act ion, had tc come up with the big saves on breakaways and dur­ing tough pressure play. Magrath Novice Hockey Results John Balderson made it to the hockey rink just in time to see. the Magrath Novice team warm, up and said "boy, so far they look good", and that is exactly what they did by defeating Brocket 7-4. Goals were scored by Kurtis Robinson (5) and Justin Harker (2) Assists went to Justin Harker, Kurtis Robin­son and Douglas Orr. First league game of the season in Raymond proved a little tougher with Magrath being defeated 6-3. Goals scored by Tyler Ferguson (1) Dustin Godionton (2) with assists to Matt Johnson, Kihn Weth-erelt and Bryce Strafe. Ken Rasmussen played welt facing 30 shots. Next league action on November 11th saw Magrath trailing 1-0 after the first period then scoring 5 unanswered goals in the second period on their way to a 13-3 victory over the visiting Coaldale team. Poihtgetters were Tyler Ferguson, Ryan. Ripley, Cameron Anderson and Clayton Anderson with 2 assists each, Ken Robin­son (1 & 3) Kinn Wetherelt and Mark Mehew (1 & 2) each, Dustin Godionton (3 & 5) Bryce. Strafe 3 & 1) Matt Johnson (4 & 4) A strong effort, by Ken Rasmussen in the first period kept the home team in the game- until the players got on track. League hockey on November 18th - Magrath cane away with a 13-0 victory over Cardston. Ken Rasmussen stopped all 18 shots against him for his first shut out of the season.
