Diodoro Siculo fra latino e volgare: prime ricerche sui volgarizzamenti umanistici e sul manoscritto Trotti 301 della Biblioteca Ambrosiana di Milano

The first part of the paper analyses the humanistic diffusion of Diodorus Siculus’s Biblioteca Storica in Italy and gives an overview on the results of a first census of the various Latin and vernacular translations of the text that were undertaken by some humanists between XVth and XVIth century, starting from Poggio Bracciolini’s Latin version. The second part of the paper is dedicated to a particular anonymous Italian translation which is contained in the manuscript Trotti 301 (Milan, Bibl. Ambr.), whose peculiar textual status – first of all the presence of many annotations and corrections made by the same hand that wrote the whole manuscript – raises some interesting philological questions and represents a good starting point for research in the field of the tradition of humanistic vernacular translations
