The Gift of Words In this short paper concerning the translation of poetry, I deliberately chose to adopt a non-technical approach, leaving aside all grammatical, linguistic or stylistic considerations. My purpose is to address the question of the complex, partly unconscious relationship with the mother-tongue AND the foreign tongue.
