Three recitals were dedicated to interdisciplinary collaborations across the musical, literary, visual, media, and choreographic arts. The first lecture recital, Music with Visual Art, combined flute music written by American composers around the 1930’s with artwork that was commissioned by Franklin D. Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration. The second recital, Music with Spoken Word, showcased the premiere of five newly commissioned works by University of Michigan composers who incorporated spoken dialogue into the musical score. The final recital, Music with Dance, culminated in the use of choreographed movement, video projection and lighting design in conjunction with unaccompanied works for flute.
