Le forum de Bavay. Campagne de fouilles 1991

The 1991 excavation campaign on the Bavay forum focused on the southern large portico and the southern wing of the cryptoporticoes. In the portico, one begins to make out the different stages of its construction. Its architectural organization remains still to be detailed, but one now knows that there have been profound alterations between the first stage and the following ones. Its latest occupation is still ill-known because of numerous recent disturbances. The excavation of the dumping site of the southern wing of the cryptoporticoes has been carried on and the proposed late datation (end of the IVth century, first third of the Vth) has been confirmed by the material discovered (Germanic pottery, Argonne mul-lers).La campagne de fouilles 1991 sur le forum de Bavay a porté sur le grand portique sud et l'aile sud des cryptoportiques. Dans le portique, on commence à discerner les différents états de construction. Son organisation architecturale reste encore à préciser, mais on sait maintenant qu'il y a eu de profonds remaniements entre le premier état et les suivants. Son occupation tardive est encore très mal connue à cause des nombreuses perturbations récentes. La fouille du dépotoir de l'aile sud des cryptoportique a continué et la datation tardive proposée (fin IVe siècle, Ier tiers du Ve siècle) est confirmée par le matériel découvert (céramique germanique, molettes d'Argonne).De opgravingscampagne in 1991 op het forum betrof de grote zuidelijke zuilengang en de zuid vleugel van het cryptoportiek. In de zuilengang begint men nu de opeenvolgende bouwfazen te zien. De architec-tonische structuur moet nog bepaald worden maar men weet al dat er een grondige verandering was tussen de eerste en de latere fazen. De late bewoning is zeer slecht gekend wegens de vele recente versto-ringen. Het onderzoek van de stortplaats van de zuidvleugel werd verdergezet en de late datering (IVe-Iste derde van de Vde eeuw) werd bevestigd door het gevonden materiaal (keramiek uit Germanie...).Loridant Frédéric, Bloemendaal Laura, Duflot Laurent.
