The EU Taxonomy is a classification system meant to help investors identify environmentally sustainable economic activities. The EU Taxonomy defines six environmental objectives: Climate change mitigation, Climate change adaptation, Sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources, Transition to a circular economy, Pollution prevention and control, and lastly, Protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems. To fulfill the requirements set out in the EU Taxonomy, an economic activity needs to contribute substantially to one of the environmental objectives and do no significant harm to any of the others.
