Απόψεις φοιτητών/τριών ως μέσο αξιολόγησης του Προγράμματος Σπουδών της τουρκικής γλώσσας: Η περίπτωση του Τμήματος Μεσογειακών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου

Foreign language education in the Greek Tertiary Education is described as a long-lasting successful promotion of the values of the contemporary multilingual and multicultural reality. The integration of Turkish in the curriculum of specific university departments not only echoes European policies, approaching language instruction in a multilingual way but also recognizes the multilayered contact of Greece and Turkey. Celebrating this year its 20 years of contribution in the academic community, the Department of the Mediterranean Studies of the University of the Aegean is one of the first university departments that have included the instruction of Turkish in their curriculum. Nevertheless, there has been no systematic investigation of the way university students view the syllabus of the Turkish language and how they evaluate it. Within this frame, the specific paper looks into the viewpoints of the university students of the Faculty of the Mediterranean Studies, who have chosen Turkish as an obligatory language, at its crux. Their opinions, gathered with the aid of a questionnaire, have been treated as an evaluation tool of the teaching practices and methods followed during the instruction of Turkish and the way this instruction contributes to the promotion of students’ linguistic abilities. The statistical analysis of the data has led to useful conclusions
