In recent years, a growing movement aims to bring together, from several perspectives, humans and the rest of living organisms, by trying – more or less explicitly – to put them in dialogue. In my paper I will study some “popular science” books, published in France and Italy, where this desire to meet this radical Other, the living being that belongs to a different species, is expressed. Our journey will not be a systematic one: I will focus on only a few titles, which I deemed particularly interesting insofar they show possible paths to be taken in order to broaden translation studies to areas other than those to which they are usually devoted.
