This report describes the first prototyping round of the implementation of feeding strategies to reduce methane emissions on five dairy farms. The project goal is to reduce both methane and ammonia emission with 30% compared to the reference year. Feeding strategies were developed, implemented and tested on efficiency on five commercial dairy farms. According to model calculations, 5-15% reduction was realized on all farms. On two farms this reduction was measured as well. To achieve a higher reduction potential changes in roughage quality are probably necessary.
