This text presents a historical and aesthetic dialogue between Brazilian bossa nova and Japanese haiku. We analyze the artistic ideals and the social structures at the time and place where these two artforms emerged, as well as compositional methods associated with the economy of terms and imagery. We also propose a comparative analysis between three haiku and four bossa nova song lyrics, aiming to illustrate the approximation between the artistic genres, as well as to demonstrate the existence of points of similarity. We base our analysis, on the reflections of Zumthor (2018), who associates the concepts of reception and performance and considers the reader in the act of reading as the place where, in fact, the “literary” is conceived.----...
