The teacher and education in the prison environment: challenges and possibilities of teaching work behind bars

Esta pesquisa é de natureza qualitativa na perspectiva de Bogdan e Biklen cujo objetivo é identificar e analisar as dificuldades e desafios que interpõem à atuação do professor no ambiente prisional. Foi realizada com seis professores efetivos que atuam nos programas de educação da Escola Estadual Professor Cid Batista do Presídio de Viçosa-MG. O instrumento de coleta de dados foi a entrevista semiestruturada e a análise dos dados se deu por meio da Análise de Conteúdo de Bardin. Dentre as dificuldades encontradas, citam-se o caráter essencialmente disciplinador, castrador, impositor de regras rígidas e de anulação do sujeito em pleitear possibilidades no ambiente prisional; as adaptações diversas que necessitam ser articuladas do ensino regular para o ensino prisional; a heterogeneidade das turmas, relativa à capacidade cognitiva dos detentos, à acentuada diferença de idade, ao histórico escolar e origem social, entre eles; a evasão escolar prisional por transferência; dificuldade de, no sistema, seguir com precisão regras, programas e o que é estabelecido e imposto pelo Estado para com o ensino regular e a falta de recursos financeiros para custear materiais didáticos e os demais para as aulas e atividades.Concluiu-se que não existe uma educação escolar específica para o contexto prisional, que é preciso respeitar singularidades desse espaço e motivar os detentos a enxergar na educação uma possibilidade de emancipação, ainda que na condição de encarcerados. Ainda que não se exige uma formação especializada ou diferenciada para o professor prisional, em que todos se encontram diante de uma escola pública como as outras, com professores da rede pública de ensino, com estudantes da EJA e com singularidades peculiares dessa modalidade de ensino eque o professor prisional está constantemente exposto tanto a desafios quanto às possibilidades de superá-los, uma vez que considere o potencial de mudança da educação e sua respectiva capacidade de superação e de capacitação dos sujeitos que a ela se oferecem. Além disso, no ensino prisional, os programas curriculares e seus conteúdos são praticamente os mesmos do ensino regular, inclusive porque operam nos mesmos moldes da EJA lá praticado; não há um critério de exigência estabelecido por parte do professor, nem pelo sistema prisional, para a composição das turmas, o que há é uma avaliação dos detentos candidatos ao ensino a partir da última série que alegam ter estudado, do histórico que deles se possa ter acesso, ou até mesmo através de uma avaliação escrita à qual são submetidos. Por fim, os professores prisionais não se limitam ao cumprimento de suas funções, mas se excedem na interação com aqueles alunos e no envolvimento com aquele universo de necessidades diversas. Dificuldades e Possibilidades Docentes no Sistema Prisional.This research is qualitative in nature from the perspective of Bogdan and Biklen whose objective is to identify and analyze the difficulties and challenges that interpose the role of the teacher in the prison environment. It was carried out with six permanent teachers who work in the education programs of the Professor Cid Batista State School of Presídio de Viçosa-MG. The data collection instrument was the semi-structured interview and the data analysis took place through Bardin's Content Analysis. Among the difficulties encountered, the essentially disciplining, castrating character, imposing strict rules and annulling the subject in claiming possibilities in the prison environment are cited; the various adaptations that need to be articulated from regular education to prison education; the heterogeneity of the classes, related to the cognitive capacity of the inmates, the marked difference in age, educational background and social origin, among them; prison school evasion by transfer; difficulty, in the system, to precisely follow rules, programs and what is established and imposed by the State in relation to regular education; and the lack of financial resources to pay for teaching materials and others for classes and activities. It was concluded that there is no specific school education for the prison context, that it is necessary to respect the singularities of this space and motivate inmates to see in education a possibility of emancipation, even in the condition of incarcerated. Although there is no need for specialized or differentiated training for the prison teacher, where everyone is faced with a public school like any other, with teachers from the public school system, with EJA students and with peculiarities peculiar to this type of teaching and that the prison teacher is constantly exposed both to challenges and to the possibilities of overcoming them, once he considers the potential for change in education and its respective capacity to overcome and train the subjects who offer themselves to it. Furthermore, in prison education, the curricular programs and their contents are practically the same as in regular education, also because they operate along the same lines as the EJA practiced there; there is no requirement established by the teacher, nor by the prison system, for the composition of the classes, what there is is an evaluation of the inmates who are candidates for teaching from the last grade they claim to have studied, of the history that can be obtained from them. have access, or even through a written assessment to which they are submitted. Finally, prison teachers are not limited to fulfilling their functions, but they gobeyond the interaction with those students and involvement with that universe of diverse needs.
