Evaluation of human resources development in tourism organization

Today’s global environment requires bigger management capabilities so that organizations could successfully survive in the environment of openness and that’s why human resource starts to be important for a modern organization more than ever before. An organization which is seeking a higher quality of work and have a comparative advantage in a competitive environment must encourage their employees continuously study and improve themselves. In particular, the tourism market, which is have close “friendship” with the latest technology, need professionals with the new or slightly different competencies which would ensure the competitiveness of that sector organizations. And it helps to properly organized, perceived both of the organization itself and employee, education process. Due to growing diversity of tourism products and growing tourist expectations, employers need more high-skilled workers in order to survive and thrive in an increasingly competitive global market. In order to fill up existing skills gaps, reduce the high staff turnover and fulfill needs of new and already emerging skills, we need training. Therefore, was formulated the labor problem: how human resource develops in tourism organizations in Lithuania? Labor object: human resource development. Labor aim: assess of human resource development in tourism organization. To achieve the aim the following tasks was provided: 1. Review the organizations staff development of human resource management system. 2. To find out the importance of human resource development in tourism organization. 3. To reveal the process of human resource development in tourism organization. A research in Vilnius municipality revealed that staff development process is going in many tourism organizations. Workers willingness to participate in the training depends on their seniority in the work. Workers choose to attend professional skills and foreign languages developing training, they are attending seminars, conference, special company courses, guided by tips from more experienced colleagues. By participating in the education process the employees received benefits differently: older said that training has improved the quality of their work and younger workers considered development expanded the horizon.
