A tradução e a literatura popular/folclórica: uma transposição cultural da cantiga de bareiro e da reza de cascaes

The translation of popular / folklore literature offers a stimulating challenge for the reflection and for the translation practice, since it requires a conscious positioning of the translator both in relation to the starting text and to the reader, as well as the cultural context of arrival. Antoine Berman (2002; 2013) and Nord (1991) conceives the translation as a reflexive experience that contributes a intrinsic knowledge and that imposes the thought. Therefore, we agree with Berman when realizing that every translation act starts from a deep reflection upon the text to be translated. Folk tales, short stories, songs and popular narratives are endowed with specificities and richness, but they tend to suffer detriment if compared to other written sources considered erudite by some theorists, who ignore that such manifestations unite the art of narrating to the context in which the story occurs and offer in their narrative, albeit wonderful, a substrate of social realism based on the imaginary and collective memory. In view of these considerations, in this article we propose to comment on the translation challenges and contextualization of some tales and a nursery rhyme La víbora de la mar –children’s play song – from Spanish to Portuguese.A tradução da literatura popular/folclórica oferece um desafio estimulante para a reflexão e a prática tradutória, pois exige posicionamento consciente do tradutor tanto em relação ao texto de partida quanto em relação ao seu leitor e ao contexto cultural de chegada. Antoine Berman (2002; 2013) e Nord (1991) concebem a tradução como uma experiência reflexiva que aporta saberes intrínsecos e que impõe o pensamento. Assim, concordamos com Berman ao percebermos que todo ato tradutório parte de uma reflexão profunda do texto a ser traduzido. Contos, histórias, cantigas e narrativas populares são dotados de especificidades e riquezas, porém, tendem a sofrer detrimento, se comparadas com outras fontes escritas consideradas eruditas por alguns teóricos, uma vez que eles ignoram que tais manifestações unem a arte de narrar ao contexto em que a história ocorre e oferecem, em sua narrativa, ainda que maravilhosa, um substrato de realismo social pautado no imaginário e na memória coletiva. Diante dessas considerações, neste artigo propomos comentar os desafios tradutórios na realização da tradução e da contextualização de uma reza e a cantiga de roda La víbora de la mar – brincadeira infantil – do espanhol para o português
