Indiana Governor Harry G. Leslie was photographed by Bretzman in 1930. The governor lived at 101 East 27th Street. He was 52 years old at the time this photograph was taken. He and his wife Martha had three sons, John 16, Richard 14, and Robert 12. A graduate of both Purdue and Indiana Universities, Leslie was sworn in as governor in January of 1929. Later that year the stock market crashed and the good times ended. During his tenure Leslie fought against the KKK, established Riley Children's Hospital, and expanded the state park system. This image is a preservation copy made from an unstable original nitrate negative.
