William N. Springer

A young boy photographed by Charles Bretzman in 1927 appears to be about 9 years old. The customer card identifies him only as W.N. Springer and the address was 4707 Guilford Ave. in Indianapolis. A search of the city directory shows a William N. Springer at that address and he was a department manager at the E.C. Atkins & Co. Inc. This boy would be his son and it is assumed that his name was William. The family could not be found in the Indiana census for 1920 or 1930 to confirm the child's name.This image is a preservation copy made from an unstable original nitrate negative.
