Barbara Strauss was the daughter of Arthur and Katharina Strauss. She was about 8 or 9 years old when she was photographed by Charles Bretzman in 1928. The customer card listed the family at 2120 North Meridian Street in Indianapolis. Arthur was the secretary of the L. Strauss & Company Department Store. Located at 33 West Washington Street, the store was one of the largest retail clothing stores for men and boys in the state.This image is a preservation copy made from an unstable original nitrate negative.
