Add to ORKGBorn in Pennsylvania in 1799, Wallace’s family moved to Brookville, Indiana in 1817. As governor his attempt to implement internal improvements such as canals and roads was stymied by an economic depression and the state was bankrupt by 1840. His most controversial act was the removal of the Potawatomi from the state in 1838. Later he served in Congress and as a judge.
