The efficiency of chemical, electrochemical and physical decontamination processes is being determined especially for the decommissioning of WWER-type pressurized water reactors. Chemical processes have a priority, as only these ensure the most important technical objective, the decontamination of a Rheinsberg Nuclear Power Plant steam generator. This work places special emphasis on minimizing the amount of waste and, from this angle, furnishes proof of the suitability of the Siemens AG CORD/UV process, electrolysis in a nitrate solution and treatment by hot pressurized water to decontaminate WWER with a view to decommissioning.
