Description of dispersion and transformation of reactive air pollutants in subdomains of the EURAD domain Final report

Der Abschlussbericht beschreibt den Beitrag des Projekts zur Entwicklung des EZM (EUMAC Zooming Model). Die Einfuehrung beruecksichtigt Grundlagen der Berechnung photochemischen Smogs. Der Abschlussbericht enthaelt eine Beschreibung der mesoskaligen Modelle MEMO (nicht-hydrostatisches Windmodell) und MARS (Ausbreitungsmodell fuer chemisch reaktive Stoffe), die den Kern des EZM bilden. Der Einfluss biogener Emissionen wird untersucht und die Auswirkung verschiedener Verkehrsszenarien auf die Ozonbildung in Athen besprochen. Vergleiche zwischen zwei numerischen Algorithmen und zwischen den Reaktionsmodellen RADM2 und KOREM werden gezeigt. Der Einfluss verschiedener Randbedingungen auf die Ozonbildung in einem Rechengebiet wird untersucht. Verschiedene Anwendungen des EZM zur Berechnung der Bildung von Photosmog in Athen, Griechenland, dem Oberrheintal und Heilbronn, Deutschland werden vorgestellt. (orig.)The final report describes the contribution of the project to the development of the EZM (EUMAC Zooming Model). The introduction considers basics of photosmog simulations. The final report contains a description of the mesoscale models MEMO (non hydrostatic wind model) and MARS (dispersion model for chemically reactive air pollutants) as the core of the EZM. The influence of biogenic emissions on ozone formation is discussed as well as the influence of various traffic scenarios on ozone formation in Athens. Comparisons between two solution algorithms are shown as well as the comparison of the reaction models RADM2 and KOREM. The spatial variability of ozone formation is shown by using different boundary condition schemes. Several applications of the EZM to calculate photosmog formation are shown in regions of Europe e.g. Greater Athens Area, Greece, Upper Rhine Valley and Heilbronn, Germany.
