The European Air Pollution Dispersion Model System (EURAD), its further development and application is described. EURAD has been designed for regional episodic simulations of the transformation and transport of reactive species of anthropogenic and natural origin. The system consists of a meteorological, chemistry/transport and emission model. It is completed by a hierarchy of simplified versions, e.g. a box- and vertical one-dimensional chemical model, and process models, e.g. for the study of aerosol and fog effects.
