The activities developed by the Institute of Microstructure Engineering deal exclusively with the further development and industrial application of microsystems technologies. For the production of structures, priority is given to the LIGA method with its different process variants. Parallely to that mechanical microproduction is pursued where structures are produced by chip-forming methods. The main research activities developed by the IMT can be summed up as follows: further development and standardization of process technologies to expand application possibilities and improve structure quality and output; development of prototypes in the pre-competition area in cooperation with the industry to demonstrate the possibilities and efficiency ...
