International audienceThe excavation of the boulevard Henrot in Reims made it possible to uncover almost 50 m of the antique right bank of the Vesle river. During phase 1, around 15/20 AD, the right bank of the river was reinforced by a wooden construction with a ramp and an embankment. These constructions protected the shore against floods and also facilitated port, economic and craft activities in this urban sector. The abandonment of the dyke in the mid-1st c. AD marks an important transition in the future of the sector. Up to 65-70 AD a road was constructed that was part of the network of streets established from the Augustan period on.
